Core Furnace Systems designs and supplies submerged arc furnaces for the production of ferroalloys, pig iron, non-ferrous metals and special products. The successful operation of a submerged arc furnace depends on a number of key factors, such as the accuracy of furnace sizing, the proper selection of electric parameters and the implementation of sound technological solutions. Furnaces have been installed for various types of ferroalloys (ferrochrome, ferromanganese, silicomanganese, ferrosilicon, ferronickel) as well as for silicon metal, pig iron, calcium carbide, phosphorous and non-ferrous metals such as copper, nickel, silver, platinum group metals, etc.
CORE's special smelting furnaces perform slag cleaning or dust recycling processes and can be devoted to the production of materials as diverse as rockwool, abrasives, refractories, etc.
DC Plasma Reduction furnaces have been supplied for wastes reclamation (EAF, BF and/or BOF dusts, mill scales and other iron-bearing oxides) and for zinc recovery from steel mill dusts.

DRI Melting Furnace
The DRI melting furnace is a sealed vessel designed to melt coal based direct reduced iron (DRI). The furnace is similar to traditional electric furnaces in that it utilizes electrodes for the melting process. The liquid hot metal that is produced by the furnace can be used as hot metal feed for an electric arc furnace (EAF) or the hot metal can be directly cast as pig iron using a pig casting machine.
The DRI melter can be designed to operate in either a smelting or melting mode. The iron content of the metallic charge is the determining factor when analyzing the economics, configuration and operating conditions of the furnace.
